Native to the Appalachian Mountains in the Eastern US, white wood aster is found in partly shaded, dry woods. It blooms in late summer/early fall. We like that it fills in the open spaces left by our spring wildflowers. It's also a good plant for attracting butterflies and other pollinators.

White wood aster was previously classified as Aster divaricatus but recently changed to Eurybia divaricata.
