Trillium luteum

The yellow trillium is native to the southern Appalachian Mountains. We often come across it on our hikes here in East TN. Trilliums grow best in richly organic soils of deciduous forests. They emerge in early spring and go dormant once the heat of summer sets in. This one has lemon yellow petals and beautifully mottled leaves.

This is Ashlyn's favorite trillium because the flowers smell just like Fruit Loops cereal.
