Description
Acanthus hungaricus is a species of bear's breeches that is native to the Balkans. It seems to have more cold hardiness than the common bear's breeches (A. mollis), so this is a great option for gardens in Zones 5-7.
A. hungaricus is deeply lobed but has no spines on the leaves. Four rows of purple shrouded pale pink flowers adorn the flower spikes, which can reach up to 4 feet in height! It makes a lovely ornamental specimen in the garden with its distinctive architecture.
