Description
Agave amica, formerly known as Polianthes tuberosa, is an intensely fragrant plant native to Mexico. The Aztecs cultivated it and supposedly used it to flavor their chocolate! Tuberoses can no longer be found in the wild, only in cultivation.
Tuberose has the rare quality of smelling stronger once it's been cut. We eagerly watch the buds swell in summer and cut them just in time for them to fully flower in the house. "Intoxicating" would be an understatement.
Cold zones must overwinter bulbs
