Description
This serviceberry (or saskatoon) is native to Western North America. It grows into a multi-stemmed large shrub or small tree. In spring, clusters of white flowers adorn the branches. The blossoms give way to fruits that resemble blueberries in both appearance and taste.
It was highly valued among many First Nations peoples, being utilized as food, medicine, weaponry, and other goods.
