Description
Aronia arbutifolia is native to Central and Eastern North America. This multi-stemmed shrub can handle a range of soils, even boggy ones.
Red chokeberries are edible just like black chokeberries. They are tart and bitter - and made more palatable with the addition of sugar (jams & jellies). If you are after visual interest only, the red berries stay on the plant much longer than the black ones (Aronia melanocarpa). The brilliant red autumn foliage also adds to its visual interest.
