Carex plantaginea

This unique sedge is native to damp woodlands throughout Eastern North America and is considered evergreen to semi-evergreen. The broad, crinkly, vibrant green leaves resemble many Plantago species, hence the common and scientific names.

It blooms earlier than many other sedges and offers lovely texture in a dappled shade setting. The clumping habit lends itself to edge or mass plantings.
