Description
While false hemp might evoke all things cannabis, it's actually a distant cousin of squash. And while it doesn't produce any mind-altering compounds, it does produce a yellow dye!
As a garden specimen it is dramatic and intriguing. False hemp can get quite large (over 5 feet) in one growing season, sending off pendulous sprays of airy flowers. Like amaranth, false hemp can be used for floral arrangements.
