Dodecatheon meadia

Shooting star is a spring-blooming wildflower native to much of the Eastern U.S. It does best in open woodland conditions (part shade, rich soils, consistently moist) but can adapt to other sites as long as there is spring moisture.

Shooting stars are one of the captivating ephemerals that make up the symphony of native wildflowers in spring. It combines well with other ephemerals like trilliums, twinleaf, bloodroot, spring beauty, and bleeding hearts.
