Eryngium agavifolium

This sea holly has many attractive features which catch the eye. The foliage is beautifully glossy and edged with striking teeth. The inherent architecture is agave-esque, yet it can evoke a lush tropical vibe as much as a dry desert one. It has flowers similar to our Eryngium yuccifolium, although a bit less showy. The foliage is really the star of agave-leaf sea holly.

This eryngium does best in well-draining soils and full sun. It is semi-evergreen and can handle drought once established.
