Description
Franklinia is a special tree because it no longer exist in the wild. It was documented by John Bartram in 1760 along the Altamaha River in Georgia and later collected by his son. It has remained in cultivation ever since. The plant you are purchasing is an offspring derived from the Bartram collection, which is a wild thought!
This small tree is deciduous. It's camellia-like flowers, which are fragrant and 3" across, bloom in late summer. Franklinia likes organically rich, well-drained soils.
