Galium odoratum

Ah, sweet woodruff, the Febreze of the Middle Ages. This medieval aromatic herb was once used extensively - to freshen a room, stuff mattresses, and blend into potpourri and insect-repelling sachets. The dried herb emits a clean fragrance of grassy vanilla and hay. It was also used traditionally as a flavoring and medicine.

Sweet woodruff withers in dry, hot weather. Give it some shade and plenty of water. If happy, it will spread into a mat-forming groundcover.
