Description

Geum triflorum has numerous common names: prairie smoke, old man’s whiskers, torchflower, lion's beard, and three-flowered avens. These are whimsical names for an equally whimsical plant. As the flower develops, plumes of feathery hairs (technically the styles) elongate to form a pink tuft of cuteness.

Geum triflorum is native to much of the Central US and is commonly found in prairies. It would be a great addition to a rock or gravel garden.
