Iris cristata

The dwarf crested iris is one of our favorite native woodland species. It prefers cool, lightly shaded areas but seems tolerant of both moist and dry soils.

The showy flowers are blue-violet with white and yellow markings. Each flower has 3 ruffled, ridge-like crests.
