Jeffersonia diphylla

Twinleaf is an herbaceous perennial native to moist deciduous forests of Eastern North America. It is a somewhat rare species and certainly endangered in some areas. Interestingly, twinleaf is one of only two species of Jeffersonia in the world (the other is in Japan).

Each leaf is divided into two symmetrical lobes, hence the name twinleaf. Situate this plant close to a footpath as to better enjoy its distinctive foliage and pretty white flowers.
