Liatris spicata

Blazing stars are North American native wildflowers with a knack for attracting pollinators. Dense blazing star (Liatris spicata) is a more eastern species that naturally grows in damp sites, so it is the most wet-tolerant of the Liatris species.

L. spicata blooms in the heat of summer with wands of feathery purple flowers. That feathery effect extends to the foliage which is narrow and grass-like. It creates a compelling effect when used en masse in meadow gardens with contrasting textures.
