Linum lewisii

Prairie flax is a perennial native to the western half of North America, extending from the Canadian Arctic down to Mexico. The grassland habitat is its original home. It is useful in large restoration projects but would be just as fitting in a home garden or meadow with dry soil. Sky blue flowers bloom extensively in the warm months. Perennial AND blue?! Our favorite combo!

It is related to European flax and has the same potentials for fiber, seed, and oil. Seed must be cooked for consumption.
