Morus rubra

Morus rubra is one of two mulberry species native to North America. We're lucky enough to have some growing naturally here on the farm. They are beautifully shaped trees, and there's nothing better than eating a freshly-picked mulberry all warm and juicy from the summer heat. The fruit starts red but then ripens to a deep blackberry color.

Mulberries do best when given fertile soil, adequate water, and lots of room to grow. In turn, they'll give you some nice shade and Edenic fruit.
