Pulsatilla patens is native to higher elevations in Europe and Siberia, especially in rocky and dry soil. The foliage is soft and fuzzy just like P. vulgaris. Lavender flowers usually emerge early in the spring around the same time the foliage emerges, which helps differentiate it from P. vulgaris. It prefers full sun in cooler climates, or a little afternoon shade in hotter regions.
