Sambucus canadensis 'Ranch'

If you want to grow an American elderberry but don't have lots of space, consider the 'Ranch' cultivar. It is a smaller version of the native species. It grows to about 5 feet tall, which means the flowers and berries are easier to harvest. Or leave the berries to the birds and enjoy it as a garden shrub with lots of seasonal interest.
