Thymus serpyllum

Creeping thyme is one of the most lovely groundcovers. Its tight, ground-hugging habit and flush of lilac-hued flowers make for a unique plant that can be manipulated to varying levels of artistry. Design a faux river, tuck in between stepping stones, soften pathway edges, or coax over a ledge. It can be used as a lawn replacement as well!

Most important is to find the right spot! Creeping thyme is a fickle creature and actually prefers neglected, poor soils. Excellent drainage is optimal.
