Description
We are thrilled to offer this little-known hemlock species! The Carolina hemlock is a nearly threatened species of the Appalachians. It grows in higher elevations along rocky stream beds and slopes. It is very similar to the Canadian hemlock but has radiating needles instead of flattened planes of needles. It's susceptible to the same problems as Canadian hemlock, so keep an eye out for disease and insects.
Site Carolina hemlock in moist, well-drained soils with wind protection and some shade.
